Hi, Iโm Jessica! Iโm the founder and lead trainer at Honey Dog Training. My love for behavior modification started at an early age by playing an active role in supporting children with special needs. Through this, I found effective and unconventional ways to communicate with others; and in turn, saw first-hand how clarity, structure, and boundaries play a critical role in our overall happiness and well-being for humans and dogs alike.
Fast forward to adopting my dog Jax, with special needs. Quickly, I realized that humanizing dogs is not the answer. In other words, we live in a world where treating dogs like humans is what seems like the right thing to do because for us it feels nice, which can be a huge disservice to the dog (and human) as it does not truly meet our dogโs needs. Good intentions without education can potentially lead to enabling bad behavior. The answer is advocating for the dog and educating ourselves to understand their true needs. Essentially, putting their needs above our own.
After seeing rewarding results with Jax, (while understanding my training journey with Jax is life-long), I knew this was my calling. I want to help others that are just as frustrated as I once was. Iโve been in your shoes, but I am confident I can help you and your dog have a better relationship. I have successfully trained hundreds of dogs and have continually educated myself. I will forever remain a student to the dog and so long as I am working with dog owners.
About Me + Honey Dog Training
My Approach
At Honey Dog Training, we keep things simple, peaceful, and rooted in real life. No frantic drills, no pressure-cooker obedience, no robotic dogs. We slow everything down. We breathe. We create space for dogs to think, settle, and feel calm โ because when the mind is right, the body will follow.
Iโm not here to โfixโ your dog like a mechanic fixes cars. Iโm here to guide you into a calmer lifestyle with your dog, where you both get to feel more grounded, clear, and connected with each other. Itโs leadership, but itโs soft. Itโs structure, but itโs gentle. Itโs firm boundaries paired with warmth, patience, and trust. At HDT we look at breed, genetics, lifestyle, and nutrition.
Youโll see your dog respond, not because we force them to, but because we give them what they biologically need. Think of it like teaching your dog to exhale.
Calm, consistent leadership and a dog who looks to you, not the world, for what to do next.
