Why a board and train might not be right for you and your dog
Many dog owners look into dog training programs and are eager to book a board & train in an effort to overcome their dog’s behavior. Whether it be separation anxiety, over-excitment, aggression, etc.owners are desperate for some guidance, and I get that! After having clients come to me expressing hopelessness post-board & train, I began to look into this and wonder why. The truth is, many programs like this are a marketing gimmick. “1 month, intense/aggressive dog rehab.”
May sound like what you need— however, you won’t find that rhetoric here. Bottom line? Dogs aren’t robots, therefore training them all the exact same way with a timeline + expectations identical to others? That’s like saying a veteran experiencing PTSD will be healed in a month’s time, no questions asked. Dogs have behaviors that vary and learn at different rates of time.
This is why I created my Immersive Program. It’s a 3-4 week long program where I spend time with your dog surrounded by you, your home, the general public and my personal dog/pack of client dogs. I do this, to show you how your dog is capable of behaving in your home and to teach you how to interact with your dog just as I do, calm and confidently. It’s a holistic approach to dog training, with the understanding that dog’s issues aren’t fixed through heavy handed corrections, rather they are worked through by first understanding dog behavior, then implementing boundaries and structure, to then learning how to live with your dog in a way that makes sense for not only you, but for them.
