Leash pullingโ€” letโ€™s fix that!

From the moment the leash is in hand, your dog is reading you. Are you calm, grounded, and present โ€” or rushed, excited or frustrated, and tense? Dogs mirror the energy leading them.

When we leash up with excitement (โ€œLetโ€™s go!โ€) or tension (tight leash, short grip, forward pull), we create resistance. That energy tells the dog: move ahead, take control, find direction elsewhere.

A tight leash isnโ€™t just physical pressure โ€” itโ€™s communication. It tells the dog, Iโ€™m not leading clearly, so you might have to.

Instead, letโ€™s teach that pressure means come back to me and connect with me. The more we communicate appropriate pressure, the less pressure is needed on the walk and the looser the leash.
